I still think they have the best nachos in the area. Their alternative is a burrito bowl and take advantage of their salad bar with all their salsas. Delicious.

City of Modesto offers a lot of Mexican food spots. Jalapeños has been one of my favorites when I'm in the area. I try to take a late lunch to avoid the crowds. The ambient is average of most taquerias (self seating, self serve drinks, etc). The food is really good. I had the burrito bowl and it tasted great. The portions are generous and the service was friendly. The appear to have a beer bar which probably opens later for dinner service.

The prices have gone up.The food is still good. They have a really good salsa bar. The best time to go would be around 1-2pm it gets pretty busy here around 5-6pm.

Food is always amazing. From their tortas that are gigantic even to the basic burritos. Their salsa bar is fire they have everything that you need. Staff is always friendly and even though they get busy they still always have smiles and make sure your food is to perfection

Great Mexican food. Chile Verde is to die for. My friend and his wife and I go to jalapenos at least once a month. He orders the two taquitos with the bean dip on the side and has converted me as well. I was stuck on their chili verde for the longest time and they have a great taco chicken salad. Everything in there is pretty good that I tasted and I tasted a few things I like their little salsa bar they have set up with the radishes and pickled onions and jalapenos it's just delicious.

Good food, good times. We stop here anytime we are in the area. So far, everything's has been good, and they have a full menu.

I happened to be in the area and got a lengua taco and chicken dinner plate. Delicious beans with cheese, nicely seasoned chicken. The rice is the weak link in the plate. Taco was delicious and not soggy. Solid place

One of my favorite items to order is the nacho fries with carne asada. They come with sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo and Jalapenos. Delicious.

While planning our road trip, I discovered there's some excellent mexican food in central California. We decided to stop by Jalapeno's after a long morning of driving. We ordered at the counter an grabbed a few tacos and quesadillas. Although service was a but lagging, they we doing their best. The food was excellent, and portions were quite generous. There is also a salsa bar where you can grab what you like. The restaurant is spacious with lots of tables for dine in. Highly recommend stopping by!
